Fresh diced tomatoes, kidney beans, and lentils make it hearty; the combination of jalapeño peppers and chili powder gives it just enough zip to make it seem like homemade.


Preparation Method:
Microwave:1. Hold tray firmly and peel back one corner of the lid about one inch to vent steam.
2. Heat on HIGH (100%) for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or until hot. (Heating times may vary due to differences in microwave ovens.) The product will be hot. Use Caution.
3. Peel off the lid, keeping the tray on a flat surface.
4. Serve piping hot.

Stove-Top:
1. Place unopened tray in an uncovered medium-sized saucepan of boiling water. Return water to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
2. Carefully remove the tray. Peel off the lid, keeping the tray on a flat surface.
3. Serve piping hot. REFRIGERATE AFTER OPENING - DO NOT HEAT IN A CONVENTIONAL OVEN

Ingredients: Water, Red Beans, Yellow Lentils, Diced Tomatoes in Juice (Tomatoes, Tomato Juice, Citric Acid, Calcium Chloride), Kidney Beans, Onions, Celery, Tomato Paste, Modified Corn Starch, Green Bell Peppers, Jalapeno Peppers, Chili Powder (Chili Pepper, Cumin, Dehydrated Onion and Garlic, Salt and Oregano), Salt, Evaporated Cane Juice, Yeast Extract, Spices.

With summer officially here now, all those relaxing, seasonal gatherings can't be far behind! There's no reason you can't enjoy the fun, even if you're trying to lose a few pounds. You can be right there in the heart of the party, celebrating with everyone else—you just have to be smart about it, and use the "system" to your advantage.

Here are some fresh tips for enjoying all those barbeques and summertime picnics
NutriSystem-style.

Go All-American
It doesn't get any better than this—hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill. So why not go ahead and heat your NutriSystem Turkey Hot Dog over the flames? And don't forget to serve it with mustard and a grilled onion! Or, as far as burgers go, you can prepare your NutriSystem Hamburger Patty as usual, too, and then put it on the grill for a minute or so—just long enough for it to get a little of that char-grilled flavor. It's also great with a little fat-free Thousand Island dressing, a slice of tomato and lettuce. Add a slice of fat-free cheese, and you've got a great sandwich!

As for your buns, why not grab a whole grain one, and try spraying a little I Can't Believe It's Not Butter (ICBINB) on it, and grill it up, too!

Feeling Chicken?
For a different twist, don't be afraid to take along one of the tasty NutriSystem Chicken Breast Patties to your next picnic. They're particularly great if there's a grill on hand, and you don't even need to keep them in a cooler prior to eating. Just throw them in your picnic basket and you're good to go!

Veggie-riffic!
There's nothing more delicious than fresh, grilled vegetables. So how about grilling your corn on the cob? You can have about half an ear as a carbohydrate serving, and maybe, instead of just salting it, try something creative—squeeze a little lime juice over it once it's cooked, and then sprinkle it with a Mexican seasoning. Or mix up a little olive oil, lemon juice and garlic, and brush the mixture on the hot corn.

Not feeling corny? That's okay. How about grilled asparagus? Before you go, just wash it and break off the tough ends, and put it in a long dish. Marinate it in some lemon juice and some lemon zest for about an hour before putting it on the grill. It's fabulous!

Fancy Fruit
Fruit is a great addition to any picnic, and the perfect way to stay on track while enjoying the season's festivities. You could enjoy your fruit serving by joining in the good, old-fashioned picnic fun of a carved watermelon (watch your portion size, though (1-1/4 cup) because it's a higher-sugar fruit and not low-glycemic). Or how about something a little different—make fruit kebobs for grilling! Just skewer a cube of honeydew, another of cantaloupe, a small section of banana, and two cubes of pineapple to make an awesome fruit serving. Let them grill, turning
frequently, until the fruit becomes slightly browned. You'll love it!

Dessert Buffet
Just because you're on program doesn't mean you have to miss out on the dessert front. Even if everyone else at your barbeque is diving into the homemade goodies, rest assured you're staying right on track by taking along one of your favorite NutriSystem desserts or snacks. They're perfectly portable, and a great way to hang out with the gang, yet return home with none of the guilt!

So simple and delicious, this white meat chicken fillet sandwich is one dinner you’re sure to enjoy (roll not included).



Preparation Method:
Microwave:
1. Remove Chicken Patty From Pouch and Place on a Microwave Safe Plate.
2. Heat on HIGH (100%) for 30-45 seconds or until warm. (Heating times may vary due to differences in microwave ovens.)
3. Serve with whole grain or whole wheat bread or roll. See your meal plan for carbohydrate serving suggestions.

Oven/Toaster Oven
1. Preheat oven to 375 (Degree Symbol).
2. Remove Chicken Patty From Pouch and Place on Baking Sheet.
3. Bake for 4-5 minutes or until warm
4. Serve with whole grain or whole wheat bread or roll. See your meal plan for carbohydrate serving suggestions.
Ingredients: Chicken White Meat, Water, Whey Protein Concentrate, Modified Food Starch, Salt, Sodium Phosphate, Carrageenan.

This creative recipe comes from NutriSystem member Robin in St. Louis, Missouri. She says, "I was craving hot and spicy buffalo wings, so I came up with this NutriSystem-friendly version. It satisfied my craving and was very filling."

Counts as dinner entrée + 1 fat serving + free foods

Ingredients 1 oz. whole-wheat elbow noodles (1/4 cup dry noodles)
1 NutriSystem Chicken Patty
1/4 cup diced celery
1 Tablespoon fat-free mayo
2 Tablespoons low-fat blue cheese salad dressing
1-2 teaspoons hot wing sauce, to taste 2 slices tomato, cubed dash of celery seed

Directions Cook pasta according to package; rinse in cool water until pasta is cooled, then drain well. Cut NutriSystem chicken patty into small cubes and stir into noodles. Add remaining ingredients and stir well. Refrigerate a half hour before serving.

Take a break from the traditional with this Italian-style omelet. Two different cheeses and a combination of mushrooms, red pepper and chives all add to the flavor of this sophisticated breakfast. It's the perfect weekend indulgence, but since it only takes a couple of minutes to prepare, you can enjoy it any day of the week! 

1. Measure 1/3 cup hot water in a 1 cup container; add mix and stir gently until powder is dissolved. Let stand 1 minute. 2. Pour into small microwave safe bowl. 3. Cover with paper towel and microwave on medium (50%) for 70 seconds; carefully lift paper towel to check for doneness. 4. Re-cover and continue cooking in 20 second increments on medium until center is set. (Microwave ovens vary, adjust time as needed.) 5. Keep covered and let stand 2-3 minutes before serving. CAUTION. PRODUCT AND BOWL WILL BE HOT.
